Moving On

Although Sixth Form marks the end of school life, it is really a time of exciting new beginnings. The decisions which girls make at this stage, about A Levels and higher education courses, will shape their futures and we offer extensive support and guidance to help our students make informed choices.

When it comes to thinking about Higher Education, we make sure that girls are fully prepared. Girls receive individual guidance from tutors and the Careers Department. Each girl will have a dedicated UCAS Adviser who will support her in making choices and writing her Personal Statement. We also arrange interview preparation, where appropriate. Some girls feel they would do best to concentrate on their studies and consider their Higher Education options after their A Levels. In this case, we extend our support through their Gap Year.

In 2017, 85 per cent of girls went on to study the degree of their choice at Russell Group universities, with approximately 20 per cent securing places at Oxbridge each year. Science subjects are as popular as Arts subjects. To get a more detailed sense of where High School girls move on to, please view our Destination of Recent Leavers. We regularly hear from Old Girls - their diverse career paths illustrate the variety of interests which girls pursue after GHS.
