Sporting Life

Guildford High School has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in sport.  A full fixtures list provides numerous opportunities for girls to represent school and we consistently achieve significant success at local, county and national competitions across all age groups.  The girls enjoy netball, lacrosse, rounders, tennis, gym, dance, swimming and athletics within their timetabled PE lessons.  Numerous other activities, including fencing, indoor rowing, sailing and hockey, are also offered as clubs.  A large number of teams run for the most popular sports to allow as many girls as possible to play competitively.  Our ethos of excellence in sport sits comfortably alongside a ‘sport for all’ policy which promotes participation for fun, health and recreation.  In Sixth Form, alongside the traditional school sports, girls can opt for activities as diverse as yoga, ice-skating and golf.

A gymnasium is housed in the main school building and the Sports Centre, purpose built and opened in 2006, incorporates a large sports hall, a six lane 25m pool with touch-pad timing, a social area and a well-equipped fitness suite (which the girls can use when they are over 16 years old).
