Year 5 tour to Jersey

In October, 16 girls in Year 5 journeyed to Jersey for a Netball tour. After an aeroplane journey and a coach, we made it to the Merton Hotel. We found out who our roommates were and took our key cards. We unpacked our clothes and our swimming kits and went to the Aqua Dome, an amazing water park opposite the hotel with a hot tub and a slide. We had lots of fun at the park. After dinner we headed down to Dante's function room to watch ‘Early Man’. Unfortunately, we had to stop half way through to go to bed as we were very tired from all the excitement of beginning our first Netball tour!

In the morning we had plenty of choice for breakfast and it was delicious. We boarded the coach to see the exciting Jersey War Tunnels and learnt how Germany took over Jersey and created the tunnels. We found our way out of the dark tunnels and went into the gift shop and bought souvenirs. Afterwards, we travelled to the beach where we sat and ate our lunches. After lunch we went to Les Ormes and played some Netball matches against Year 6 girls from Jersey College Prep. They were good players and we learnt lots of tactics whilst playing. We arrived back at the Merton Hotel and had a relaxing evening and finished watching ‘Early Man’.

The next day, we went back to Les Ormes and played against Jersey Netball Club. We then went to a different beach and had competitions on who could make the best item out of sand. After that we went up to the Water Splash Café and ate pizza whilst watching football! On the last day we went to the Jersey Zoo where we had a workshop on the rainforest and then saw orangutans, gorillas, bats, frogs, lizards and turtles! That afternoon we then went back to Jersey Airport. We were sad to be leaving but still had a buzz of excitement when discussing the trip. Overall the trip was amazing and very exciting.
