Women in Economics

To a packed audience on Tuesday evening, GHS Economics department hosted a forum for career opportunities for 'Women in Economics, Business and Finance' and was delighted to welcome GHS alumnae and other speakers to talk about their career paths post A Levels. Most had studied Economics at A Level and at university and talked about their decisions for studying Economics, their enjoyment of studying a subject that relates to real life, and were very enthusiastic about the variety of exciting career opportunities that they have been /are currently working in, including the CBI, Waitrose, Uber, HMRC Treasury, Virgin Media and Nomura International PLC. Additionally, a recently graduate and current GHS student talked about their choices as they embark on their potential careers in wealth management and business apprenticeships respectively.

The guest speaker from the Behavioural Insights Team gave a very interesting presentation on how insights from behavioural science is being used to encourage people to make better choices for themselves and society,  focusing on developing interventions that encourage volunteering, charitable giving and improve life chances and inclusion.

I would like to give a huge thank you to all our speakers for having volunteered their time to talk about the sparkling careers they are enjoying and the fantastic opportunities there are for women today in Economics, Business and Finance.
