Sheffield Springs Academy visit

GHS was delighted to host pupils and teachers from Sheffield Springs Academy, which, like us, is part of United Learning. The pupils were allocated peer mentors, whom they shadowed around the school in lessons, some of our lunchtime clubs and sporting practices over two days. On the first day, the Sheffield Springs girls visited the University of Surrey for an interactive tour. All of the girls and staff went out for a meal during their stay and the laughter was abundant throughout! The Sheffield Springs students were touched by the warm welcome shown to them by all our girls and the teachers from Sheffield Springs were also full of ideas gleaned from their observations of lessons, which they are keen to implement on their return. They praised the confidence and courtesy with which GHS pupils conducted themselves, and were impressed by the contributions heard in lessons. The Sheffield Springs girls were unfailingly polite and eager to see how the GHS girls learned and, even though the visit only lasted two days, there were some tears from both GHS and Sheffield Springs girls when we they had to leave!
