Prose Festival

On a beautifully warm and sunny evening in June, selected girls from Years 7, 8 and 9 read their shortlisted prose entries to an audience of parents and teachers, and to the author, Natasha Farrant, who judged the competition. The festival celebrated ‘minor heroes’; those slighter characters from works of literature who are calling out to be the protagonists of their own stories. Girls were challenged to move a minor character from an existing narrative from the margins to the centre of a story of their own creation. They did so in original, highly creative and surprising ways!

The evening was a great success - girls were wonderfully confident and engaging in their performances; awarding prizes for the very best was a difficult task! Congratulations to all the girls who participated.
