New Year's Honours List

We are delighted to announce that Executive Director of Sport, Louise Stone, has been awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List for her services to education.

Headmistress Fiona Boulton commented, “I am extremely proud of Louise and delighted for her. This award is recognition of her dedication to her work and to the young people she has coached. She has inspired a generation of pupils and teachers both at Guildford High School and across our group of United Learning schools to pursue their love of sport and, in many cases, to compete at the very highest level.

Whilst Louise has had a significant impact across many sports in her role at Guildford High School, her first love is Lacrosse. She is a great ambassador for that sport and has worked tirelessly to promote the sport and bring through girls who have become established international representatives for England, Scotland and Wales.

I know that news of her award will be welcomed by everyone who has either worked with Louise or, through her guidance and support, discovered a lifelong love of their sport. In an age when we celebrate and promote the ethos of This Girl Can, it is people such as Louise who day in, day out provide the role models and encouragement that our young women need.”

Louise Stone commented, “I am delighted to receive this award and regard it as an honour for Guildford High School as well as for myself. I have only achieved it through working alongside an outstanding PE Department at one of the top, most successful schools in the country. Fiona Boulton has always shared the same vision about how she wished the school’s sports programme to progress and her guidance, support and investment has been integral to all its success. Any accolade I am receiving is as a direct result of all this!”
