Fundraising Update

The amazing success of the FoGHS would not be possible without the many volunteers who co-ordinate, and those who support, the events and activities, primarily the Christmas Fair, Summer Family Fun Day and Second Hand Uniform Sales, funds from which augment the annual voluntary donation from parents.

The Committee votes on how these funds are spent, based on a Wish List from the School. Projects we fund can range from Christmas trees to new playground or club equipment, anything which we feel will enhance the girls' school experience.

Recent funding highlights:

Art Department Screen Printing Unit and Equipment

'Here is an image hot off the press (literally!) which was done by one of our Year 11 girls for the GCSE Art examination on the lovely new exposure unit which we haven't stopped using!'
Mrs Sue Kew, Head of Art

State of the Art Media Suite

A media suite to support learning, enhance extra-curricular activities, create media resources and provide secure storage of associated media equipment - a whole school resource to support every department in the Junior and Senior school.

'The Media Suite includes four camera kits, which students and staff can use to capture media, as well as two Mac Pro computers to edit this media from. A new film club is due to start, which will make extensive use of the facilities over the summer term. The suite is already enhacing the quality of media across the school and helping to provide further creative opportunities for the girls.'
Mr Dave Curran, Technical Director

AV System in Sports Hall Social Area

'The AV system is regularly used by PE staff for teaching aspects, such as teaching game tactics, and for amplification and displaying video and photos during special school events, such as the Poetry Festival. It's a great, reliable system containing everything we need in this area and has been a real asset.'
Mr Dave Curran, Technical Director

'The system has been used for various PE lessons, it has proved particularly useful for teams to meet and discuss tactics along with dance lessons that can show example DVDs on a screen that has great clarity. Lunchtime clubs where they have been doing various types of dance, such as Zumba, have benefited enormously from a system that gives a fantastic studio like sound. We would like to thank all of those who have helped contribute to this fantastic equipment; it really does make a difference in improving the students' experiences in a number of subjects, not just sport related.'
Mr Simon Wilkinson, Sports Centre Manager
