Circus Day 2018

Last week the Junior School celebrated the 250th anniversary of the first ever circus in London. For one day only the Sports Centre was transformed from a grassy pitch into a performance space, resplendent with a big top, trapeze, unicycles, tightropes, three circus artists and all manner of excitement that would make P. T. Barnum proud. All of the girls performed remarkable feats to adoring crowds and then sampled the circus stalls there were on offer. They did fantastically well and embraced the spirit of the day with one girl remarking "I wish it could be the 250th anniversary every year". Unfortunately this is not possible and the circus packed up and left town that evening, leaving in its wake a plethora of beaming, enthused but tired girls. As P.T. Barnum is reputed to have said: "The noblest art is that of making others happy."
