Charity Fundraising

GHS went orange last week in order to support the efforts of Guildford Challengers to restore their play area after the devastating fire. Girls from 4 years old to 18 dressed in orange and donated money for this worthwhile cause. Senior Prefects Alexia and Celia organised the event, and the GHS girls were especially keen to support it as many girls volunteer at Challengers, raising £1,572.60.

The school has also been busy fundraising to help protect the majestic oak trees of Stoke Park. Geoff Monk, Tree and Woodland Officer with Surrey Council, has been educating the girls on the threats to these beautiful trees and also the pioneering treatment that the school has funded - helping to protect oak trees on Stoke Park for the future generations to enjoy. The school has so far raised £2,000.

Finally, GHS pulled out all the stops for the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning in late September, serving cookies and hot chocolate to raise money for this wonderful cause. The total amount raised will be confirmed shortly.
